Beneath Medicine Tree by Copeland
26th September 2025
Recently I have been obsessed with various Tooth & Nail bands such as Mae, Copeland, Anberlin ect.. unfortunately, CDs by these bands are so hard to get in the UK because well.. they weren't/ still aren't very popular over here. However! I found a UK based record shop that stocks all sorts of awesome emo and indie releases and they aren't super expensive :D When I saw they were selling Copeland's Beneath Medicine Tree I knew I had to buy it because I think their song Paula Sparks from that album may be one of my most listened to this year - lol.

When I recived the CD I took a shaky one-handed video going through the booklet because the design is just that awesome, check it out below.

The album's booklet was designed by ex-Copeland bassist James Likeness, who has done loads of merch designs for so many bands on Tooth & Nail and Militia Group. The booklet is so unique because half of the pages are tracing paper so you can see the photograph underneath the illustration. What an awesome and creative idea! The photographs are really wonderfully done (not that you can tell in my video though LOL) and suit the album so well.

New CD + changing my listening habits
2nd September 2025
For the first time in a long time, I actually bought a CD from a music shop! The CD in question is Into It. Over It.'s Proper. I had orginally wanted their album Twelve Towns but after searching for it an apologetic employee told me they had sold out, but noone had wanted to buy it recently so it wasn't taken off the shelf. The funny thing is I actually prefer Proper but Twelve Towns was slightly cheaper LOL.
I don't really buy new music unless I'm at a concert and even then I have to like the album alot to justify the purchase - I think I've gotten too used to unlimited streaming and 1£ CDs at charity shops. As I was in the shop browsing the most wonderful Punk/Emo section (yes, they really had one!) I realised just how little I appreciate my CDs, eventhough I have quite a big collection, only a handful get the proper airtime.
So I've decided to finally stop using spotify! I only use spotify when I'm on my laptop but why continue to use it when my CD player is right there! Hopefully this is going to push me in the direction of enjoying my CD collection a bit more, next step fixing my portable CD player.
